The students at Brakebills stumbled into one heck of an adventure in Season 1 of Syfy’s The Magicians, and we’ll be heading even deeper into the magical world of Fillory in Season 2.

Syfy (Corporate owner of Blastr -Ed.) has dropped a new trailer for the second season of The Magicians, giving us a peek at what Quentin (Jason Ralph), Julia (Stella Maeve) and the gang will be up to when the show returns early next year. In Season 2, Syfy says the team of unlikely heroes will be thrust into even more violent and unfamiliar territory (which is saying something, after Season 1), as they face a threat that could destroy the magical world itself.

As for their life-changing jaunt to Fillory at the end of last season, it seems Quentin and the gang will realize those who entered the magical land will “never the same” as those who leave. The series is based on Lev Grossman’s best selling series of novels The Magicians, which follows a group of 20-something students at the secret, magical college of Brakebills University.

The second season of The Magicians premieres Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 9/8c on Syfy. The network is planning a marathon of Season 1 on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 p.m.
