20th Century Fox has dropped its final red band trailer for Shane Black's The Predator and it offers a hilarious and self-aware explanation of the franchise's title.
"[It] tracks its prey, like a game. It seems to enjoy it," says Sterling K. Brown's character.
Olivia Munn's character counters with, "That's not a predator, that's a sports hunter."
"Well, we took a vote, predator's cooler ... F*** yeah."
That's the kind of genuine humor that we've come to expect from Black, who is known for comedies like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys. This is also a very personal project for the writer/director, as his first big acting role came in the first-ever Predator film in 1987, alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The trailer also gives us a good look at the Predator hounds, something we've never seen before in the franchise, but something that makes a ton of sense. If you're gonna go hunting, you gotta bring your bloodhound along to track the moving game.
Brown (Black Panther), Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), and Boyd Holbrook (Logan) lead an all-star cast of Keegan-Michael Key (Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation), Jacob Tremblay (The Book of Henry), Thomas Jane (A.X.L.), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid's Tale), and Jake Busey (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
Based on this trailer, Thomas Jane looks like he'll be a standout character for sure.
