Well, after hearing the rumors last week, and then learning they were true just yesterday, it's finally time for us to watch the final epic trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The footage debuted during tonight's Monday Night Football halftime broadcast, and now it's online for all to see. Check it out.
Well, obviously the trailer is still rather plot-light, but let's digest what we can, shall we? We see what seems to be Finn crashing in his TIE fighter to find a different cause to fight for. We see Rey finding out that she's part of a greater destiny (much like another kid from a desert planet we saw all those years ago). We see Kylo Ren declaring that he will finish Darth Vader's work, setting up a kind of martyr worship scenario that could be very interesting indeed.
Let's get to the real goosebump-inducing stuff, though: Han Solo telling Finn and Rey that "It's true. All of it," suggesting that they're living in a world that's forgotten the glory of the Jedi and the tyranny of the Sith altogether. What Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker fought to restore, and what Darth Vader and Palpatine fought to keep hidden, is now just a myth, it seems. But, as the title suggests, an awakening is coming.
So, what did you think? I will admit to full-on bursting into tears the moment I saw Han and Leia embrace, so I won't judge you at all for getting emotional.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives Dec. 18, as if you didn't know already.
