By now you may have heard the news that Netflix and Marvel have decided to cancel their Iron Fist series after just two seasons. Of the six Marvel Netflix shows, it is the only one to have been canceled, but also the one to have received the most critical reaction. The first season of Iron Fist was panned by critics and audiences alike. However, a guest stint for the character on the Luke Cage series between seasons and a much better-received second season were thought to perhaps spell redemption for Danny Rand. Alas, as we found out yesterday, it was not so, at least not on Netflix.
And so today Finn Jones, who played Rand/the Iron Fist for two seasons of his own series, on Luke Cage, and with a hefty role in The Defenders, has said goodbye to the series himself:
Some have speculated that the character may see a new life next year when Disney launches its own streaming service with series starring the likes of Loki and Scarlet Witch. Is there still room for an Iron Fist resurrection? We'll have to wait and see.
