Before Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. went on a month-long hiatus at the start of November, Jason O’Mara’s new director, Jeffrey Mace, sent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) on a top-secret mission. In fact, it was so top-secret she wasn't told where she was going (they even put a bag over her head) or what she was even supposed to do.

When the show returns this coming Tuesday (are we there yet?), the mystery of where Jemma went will be resolved. But you don’t have to wait until next week to find that out, since the first clip from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s return episode tells us exactly what she’s been sent to do.

Some of you may have already guessed that Mace was sending Jemma to help with Senator Rota Nadeer's (Parminder Nagra) Inhuman brother, last seen as a cocoon. In the clip below, we learn that he’s been gestating for seven months (!!!), while most Inhumans go through Terragenesis in a matter of a “few fleeting moments.” Simmons’ job is to find out what he’ll become when he comes out of the months-long metamorphosis.

So dig into the clip below, and I’ve also included a gallery of pics from next week’s episode, titled “Deals With Our Devils,” as well as a bunch of brand-new images from the following one, titled “The Laws of Inferno Dynamics,” which also happens to be the winter finale. (I know, guys, I know. We barely got the show back. Le sigh.)
