20th Century Fox has released the first official trailer for Gore Verbinski’s new horror thriller A Cure for Wellness. The screenplay was penned by Justin Haythe (The Lone Ranger) based on a story by Haythe and Verbinski and stars Dane DeHaan, Mia Goth and Jason Isaacs.

The director landed on everyone’s radar with horror movie The Ring back in 2002 (well, there was The Mexican before that, but best forget about it), so it’s a return to horror for Verbinski, who’s helmed quite a few blockbusters over the past few years, namely Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Verbinski’s last movie, The Lone Ranger (the one that starred Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer), was released in 2013.

So, what’s the story for A Cure for Wellness about? Here’s the synopsis:

An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company’s CEO from an idyllic but mysterious “wellness center” at a remote location in the Swiss Alps.  He soon suspects that the spa’s miraculous treatments are not what they seem.  When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure.  From Gore Verbinski, the visionary director of The Ring, comes the new psychological thriller, A Cure for Wellness.

As you’ll see in the trailer below, the movie looks all kinds of weird and creepy. And what’s with all the nearly-nude (and dead?) people in those water tanks? I'm intrigued. How about you? A Cure for Wellness opens on Feb. 17, 2017.
