With shows like Black Mirror and films like V/H/S finding success, it’s hard to think of a better era to be a fan of anthology horror. The next up? XX, which features a killer line-up of female directors.

The project aims to highlight four female directors with their own unique horror tales, weaving little vignettes with very different tones and styles. Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) makes her directorial debut with The Birthday Party; Karyn Kusama (The Invitation, Girlfight) takes on the exorcism tale Her Only Living Son; Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound) brings the story Don’t Fall to life; and Jovanka Vuckovic (The Captured Bird) tackles the mystery of The Box.

From creature horror to disarmingly poppy visuals, XX looks like a grab bag of really compelling horror ideas. It’s a clever move to bring these four female directors together, allowing them to showcase their skills in a tight little scary bundle. If you’re looking to take on some new stories from some fresh faces, this could certainly be one to watch.

XX stars Natalie Brown, Melanie Lynskey, Breeda Wool and Christina Kirk. The film will hit VOD and a limited theatrical run on Feb. 17.
