With the epic crossover event now behind us, both The Flash and Arrow are getting back to their own respective storylines — and we’re geeking out to see this one.
The midseason finale of The Flash airs Dec. 9 on The CW, and the network has released the first teaser trailer for the episode. Not surprisingly, it’s a doozy. As we’d previously heard, the episode will give Barry a chance to face off against the man who killed his mother, Reverse-Flash.
As expected, the character’s identity is hidden by that super-fast face-blurring ability, and the producers have previously teased that we won’t find out the identity of Reverse-Flash anytime terribly soon. So they’re apparently holding that reveal for a bit later in the game. But, big reveal on the ID or not, we get Flash vs. Reverse-Flash in a friggin’ super speed fight. This is the reason this series exists, and we cannot wait to see this play out.
We’re so psyched the producers are diving headlong into the comic canon, and by tackling these stories now, it’s making for one heck of a debut season. I don't know where they'll take it in season two, but for now, we're hooked. This is also a great twist to provide a new challenge for Barry, because the super-speed thing is starting to make things a bit too easy (see: that Flash/Arrow crossover).
