Netflix is making a play for the high-class kung-fu crowd, and we finally have the first full trailer for the streaming service’s sequel to the Oscar-winning 2000 classic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
Dubbed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, the film picks up with Michelle Yeoh reprising her iconic role as Yu Shu Lien as she works to protect the legendary Green Destiny sword, which once belonged to legendary swordsman Li Mu Bai. Returning to such a beloved film a full 15 years later is obviously risky business, but a nice mix of CGI effects and wirework look to strike the balance that should keep fans happy.
Plus, it goes without saying — the movie looks great. The trailer shows off some beautiful scenes, and it definitely has the same feel and vibe as the original film. Here’s the official synopsis Netflix has put together:
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny tells an epic story of lost love, young love, a legendary sword and one last opportunity at redemption, set against breathtaking action in an epic martial arts battle between good and evil that will decide the fate of the Martial World.
