Eager to take a peek inside the oddball orphanage of Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children? Feast your eyes on these newly-released images from 20th Century Fox via our friends at Entertainment Weekly showing the weird residents of Miss Peregrine's strange time-twisting sanctuary. Based on the novel by Ransom Riggs, it's the story of Jake (Asa Butterfield), a troubled teenager who travels to a mysterious orphanage run by a shape-shifter (Eva Green) known as an ymbryne, protecting gifted children from monsters called "hollows."
Here's the official synopsis:
From visionary director Tim Burton, and based upon the best-selling novel, comes an unforgettable motion picture experience. When Jake discovers clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds a magical place known as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers…and their powerful enemies. Ultimately, Jake discovers that only his own special “peculiarity” can save his new friends.
Have a look at Eva Green and Asa Butterfield above and the lineup of Olive (Lauren McCrostie), Bronwyn (Pixie Davies), Millard (Cameron King), the twins (Thomas and Joseph Odwell), and Emma (Ella Purnell), with a levitating Emma at the beach below and tell us if you think this freaky film featuring a "scary Mary Poppins" might be Burton's return to visual vitality or just another uninspiring indulgence.
Also starring Terence Stamp, Rupert Everett, Allison Janney, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children opens September 30th.
