What is this, a crossover episode? We've known that Mr. Frodo Baggins of Bag End — whoops, apologies — we've known that actor Elijah Wood would be turning up to voice a character at some point on the new Star Wars animated series, Star Wars Resistance. And now today, we have our first look at The Lord of the Rings legend in animated action.
Wood will play a sky racer named Jace Rucklin in the upcoming episode "Fuel for the Fire." He will befriend series protagonist Kaz Xiono, and try to convince him to help swipe some hyperfuel from Kaz's reluctant mentor, Yeager. Knowing Kaz, he just might be stupid enough to try this.
Take a look at the first clip of the speedy Mr. Rucklin as he and Kaz engage in a friendly speeder bike race:
It would seem that the usually inept Mr. Xiono is not entirely without a few Snokes up his Sheev. The new series already boasts some fantastic acting talent, including Christopher Sean as Kaz, Josh Brenner as Neeku, the always welcome Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron (of course), and the wonderful comedic duo of Jim Rash and Bobby Moynihan.
Having the wonderful Mr. Wood on board the Colossus is just the jogun fruit on top of the cake, as the saying goes. Here's hoping that he'll come around for more than just this one appearance, and here's also hoping that he doesn't ask Kaz to steal any kind of ring for him while he's there. Come on, precious... you were all thinking it.
Star Wars Resistance airs on Sunday nights at 10 pm on the Disney Channel. Get on board, because this show is Rathtar-sized Star Wars fun.
