The new Black Panther comic from Ta-Nehisi Coates has proven to be one of Marvel’s most ambitious and successful ‘books of the year, and now the studio is getting ready to dig deeper into the world of modern-day Wakanda.

Marvel has released a first look at Black Panther: World of Wakanda, which spins out of a storyline that has been threading through the first several issues of the flagship book. The series is being written by Roxane Gay (Bad Feminist, An Untamed State) and follows the Midnight Angels, aka rogue Dora Milaje members Ayo and Aneka. The series has been described as a “Wakandan love story – its tenderness matched only by its brutality.”

Their story has been one of the most compelling things about Black Panther, so giving these characters additional room to breathe looks to be a great move.

Along with following the Midnight Angels, the first issue of World of Wakanda will also feature a 10-page backup story from poet Yona Harvey (Hemming the Water), and Coates that will explore the origin of Zenzi, the leader of the group behind the social unrest in Wakanda.

The first issue of Black Panther: World of Wakanda hits shelves on Nov. 9.
