Another day, another new Star Trek: Discovery goodie.
While yesterday gave us our first look at Jason Isaacs totally rocking that new Starfleet uniform as the Discovery’s Captain Lorca, today we have our first peek at one of the show’s new (old?) transporter rooms. Because yes, there will be more than one.
Set 10 years before the events of The Original Series, Star Trek: Discovery will actually focus on two Starships: The USS Shenzhou and the USS Discovery, with the latter being the newer vessel of the two.
The image was released via Entertainment Weekly and offers a look at the USS Shenzhou’s transporter bay, with Captain Philippa Georgiou (Michell Yeoh) and First Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) preparing to beam down for what I assume is a dangerous away mission (based on the fact they’re wearing body armor, at least). They’re also carrying the same old-school phasers as the ones from The Original Series.
Also seen from the back is Doug Jones’ Lt. Saru, who is from a brand-new alien species in the Star Trek universe. Now, whether you guys dig the design for the Shenzhou’s transporter room or not, the one on the USS Discovery will apparently be very different.
What say you about the USS Shenzhou’s transporter room?
