It’s been a while since Richard Rider was ripping around the Marvel Universe, but now the original Nova is officially back in action.

Marvel has revealed a first look at the new ongoing series NOVA, which will reintroduce Richard Rider to a world that’s pretty much moved on without him. Nova was introduced back in the 1970s, and was one of the most powerful cosmic heroes in the universe for a good while. He fought with the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers to take on insanely huge threats, and eventually gave his life to shut down one of the biggest ones. But hey, if Star-Lord can get a reprieve from death, why not Nova?

Marvel teases that the new series will follow Rider after he returns from the brink, though he is now unsure of his place in the universe. Of course, while he was gone, a new Nova (young Sam Alexander) stepped up to fill the void he left behind. From the sound of it, it seems NOVA will follow both Sam and Rich as they try to figure out what it means to have two Novas running around in the world. Rider’s return has been a long time coming, and it’ll be great to have one of the Marvel Universe’s cosmic heavy hitters back.

The series will be helmed by Jeff Loveness (Groot) and Ramon Perez (All-New Hawkeye).
