Fans were understandably psyched when Marvel announced plans to spinoff breakout character Doctor Aphra into her own spinoff comic. Now we have a first look.

The comic publisher has released some preview pages from the first issue of Doctor Aphra, which will follow the savvy archaeologist first introduced in the recent Darth Vader comic series. The series will follow Aphra after she barely escaped from Vader’s clutches, and sets off with her droids 0-0-0 and BT-1 to track down rare artifacts across the galaxy. All with the Empire on her tail, of course. The first pages show her right back at it, tracking down long-lost goodies.

The original character was arguably the best thing about Darth Vader, and creative team Kieron Gillen (Darth Vader) and Kev Walker (Marvel Zombies) hope to keep that momentum going in this new series. It’s worth noting this is essentially the first original, breakout success from Marvel’s Star Wars comic line. Considering it’s all connected, it makes you wonder if Aphra might pop up on the big (or small) screen a year or two down the line.

The first issue of Doctor Aphra hits shelves Dec. 7.
