There have been rumors of a chrome variation of the stormtrooper armor for Star Wars: Episode VII for a while now, and now, thanks to what is supposedly some leaked concept art, we've got our very first look! Also, there seems to be a bit of a tantalizing update concerning Adam Driver’s character.
First off, Indie Revolver have gotten their hands on two very awesome images and concept art from J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII, giving us a first glimpse at the newest variation of the Galactic Empire’s stormtrooper.
The two images below show the chrome trooper, which could be a new variation of the Imperial stormtrooper, but if we believe the new info on Adam Driver’s character, they may not actually be affiliated with the Empire, but would instead be hired guns:
“A couple sources have expressed that the chrome troopers are a private security force for Adam Driver’s character – silver mercenary rent-a-cops rather than true Imperial Forces for Adam Driver’s character. While we’ve not heard this from anyone directly, the most abundant rumor about Driver is that he’s a wealthy aristocrat with an interest in Sith artifacts.”
We have to say that the chrome trooper really looks cool, though. And is he wearing some sort of robe thingie over his head? Looks like it, although, apparently, they won't wear hoods in the movie, but instead a “metal collar stands up from the torso armour and curves up on the sides before dipping down again at the back.”
What do you guys think of the new design?
