Pics of Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo were snapped while filming took place on the Doctor Strange set in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The 12 Years a Slave actor was spotted shooting scenes of the hotly anticipated Marvel superhero movie alongside Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange in Patan Durbar Square. According to one source (a photographer), the scenes involved the future Sorcerer Supreme meeting up with Mordo, “who seems to be his guide.”

In the Marvel comics, Karl Amadeus Mordo was a Transylvanian nobleman who became a student to the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). When Mordo plotted to kill his teacher, Strange accidentally learned of it but was stopped from telling anyone when he was magically restrained from speaking by Mordo. The whole thing eventually failed when the Ancient One freed Strange from the spell and began to train him as a formidable nemesis to Baron Mordo, who was exiled for his treachery.

Mordo's magical skills included astral projection and hypnosis, as well as mesmerism. He practiced powerful black magic and didn’t shrink away from invoking demons. These (the black spells and the demon summoning) would often backfire in Mordo’s face.

Helmed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange also stars Rachael McAdams and Mads Mikkelsen. The movie is set to open on Nov. 4, 2016. What do you think of Chiwetel Ejiofor's look as Baron Mordo?
