The promise of colonizing a distant planet to escape past demons and make a fresh start is too alluring to pass up for the ensemble cast of Origin, as the upcoming sci-fi series from YouTube landed at San Diego Comic-Con. But as this first trailer ominously suggests, no distance is far enough to escape the things that eat at you from the inside.

The all-new series stars Harry Potter alums Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) and Natalia Tena (Nymphadora Tonks) and is slated to launch on YouTube’s Premium subscription service. Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Origin explores the dynamic between an ensemble of would-be space colonists who end up stranded aboard the vessel that was supposed to bear them to their new home — and their new lives.

Once they realize they’ve been handed a very different adventure than the one they signed up for, things get really interesting. At least one of the passengers is hiding something from the others — and the innocent will have to work together if they want to survive.

“[A]s their terrifying situation spirals into paranoia, they come to realize that the greatest threat to their dream of starting over — and indeed their lives — might actually be within their midst,” warns the show’s official synopsis.

Created and written by Mika Watkins and produced by Left Bank Pictures (the studio behind Amazon’s recent Phillip K. Dick anthology Electric Dreams), Origin is slated to  debut with an initial run of 10 episodes sometime this fall.
