Zombies are all the rage these days, and it seems the undead are ever crossing over into reality TV. Get ready for Fight of the Living Dead.
The new 11-episode series is set to debut later this month on online network CONtv, and is basically the bizarre love child of The Walking Dead and The Amazing Race. The unscripted series makes quite a bit of effort to set the scene of a zombie-filled post-apocalypse. Contestants are blindfolded and driven in circles before being dropped off in a strange location filled with "zombies." Oh, and the contestants are zipped up in body bags to get things started off right.
The “survivors” (aka contestants) are tasked with finding the antidote to the zombie virus. If nothing else, you have to admire the ambition. The series features more than 200 extras and an effects supervisor (Face Off’s Tommy Pietch) and stunt coordinator (Winter Soldier’s Chris Carnel) who bring some solid Hollywood pedigree. The show was filmed with more than 60 cameras, along with GoPros strapped to each contestant.
Basically, it's an insanely ambitious LARP, but despite all the efforts to set the stakes, it's still fiction. But hey, it looks like fun fiction. Check out the first official trailer below and let us know what you think:
The series premieres March 22 on CONtv.
