After 13 long years of waiting, Square Enix has confirmed a release date for the third entry in the Kingdom Hearts video game series. Even the most casual fans of the famous franchise recognize the games for their abundance of classic Disney characters like Goofy, Donald, Mickey, Aladdin, Maleficent, and Jiminy Cricket. They all cross over with personalities from the Final Fantasy and The World Ends.

In honor of E3, the trailer for Kingdom Hearts III has been released and promises even more personalities from the House of Mouse, including those created by Pixar. Using Frozen as a focal point, the trailer finds Sora, Donald, and Goofy meeting up with Elsa as she flees the Arendelle castle after losing control of her powers. Not long after, we also see Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, the best part being that it sounds like the original voice actors (Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, etc.) are returning to their iconic roles.

And it's not just characters from Frozen that we see in the trailer. There's also Wreck-It Ralph from his eponymous movie, Rapunzel from Tangled, Hercules, Mike and Sully from Monsters, Inc., and Hamm and Woody from Toy Story. Since the Walt Disney Company officially purchased Pixar in 2006, a year after Kingdom Hearts II, they can now include as many RenderMan folks as they want.

Check out the trailer below:

The original expected release for the game was actually this year, after it was confirmed to be in development at E3 in 2013. However, unexpected delays have caused the company to push it off until 2019. This was due to the fact that the crew had switched to a different gaming engine halfway through the development process and had to practically start from scratch on a lot of things.

"I’m sorry that we’re asking for a little more time than initially planned," wrote Kingdom Hearts co-creator Tetsuya Nomura on Twitter. "Please look forward to other information, including a few trailers at E3. Thank you."

You'll be able to get your hands on Kingdom Hearts III on January 29, 2019, for the Xbox One and PS4.
