Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House is an iconic novel that led to some intense film adaptations (well, one intense adaptation and one really awful one). Now it’s coming to Netflix as a show by Mike Flanagan. We’ve seen the screenshots, we know the story — but today, we got the first trailer for the latest version of the tale.

The cast of adults (some of which were once former kids living in the haunted manor) includes Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Timothy Hutton, Elizabeth Reaser, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel, and Victoria Pedretti. Under the direction of Flanagan and with the scripts of showrunner Meredith Averill, they’ll all find out the dark secrets and family mysteries lurking in this really awful house. Well, just watch for yourself. But don’t come crying to us when you can’t sleep in your own creaky home tonight.

Take a look:

These kids are anticipating some very, very specific nightmares - nightmares involving depression, anxiety, poisoned blood, and suicidal tendencies. You know, things you might expect from a very haunted home where the lines between dream and reality, past and present, will be blurred soon enough.

The Haunting of Hill House moves into your neighborhood on Oct. 12.
