Get ready to jump. The trailer for the YouTube Red Original series based in the world of Jumper is here, and it looks pretty darn creepy.
The new series is an adaptation of Steven Gould's Impulse, the third book in his teleportation series. The first book in the series is Jumper, which you might remember was adapted as a big budget action film back in 2008 starring Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen. That film's director, Doug Liman, is producing the 10-episode series, which stars Maddie Hasson as 16-year-old Henry Coles, the new girl in town who discovers her ability to teleport.
Check out the just-released trailer below:
As you can see, it's clear Coles is troubled, and doesn't quite feel like she fits in. And while we don't actually see any teleportation, the trailer does set the scene for her state of mind leading up to the discovery of her powers. Overall, it looks like it's going to be a somewhat dark show, full of teen angst (plus teleportation).
There's also currently a TV series based on Jumper itself (rather than Impulse) in development from the film's original co-star Jamie Bell. It'll be interesting to see if these two are at all connected. In the book series, the teen girl in Impulse is the daughter of the main characters in Jumper -- but thus far it's unclear if that remains the same in the YouTube Red series.
Impulse drops on YouTube Red this Summer. What do you think of the trailer?
