The first official trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s gothic horror movie Crimson Peak — starring the God of Mischief himself, Tom Hiddleston — has been released.

The supernatural movie is a co-production between Legendary Pictures and Universal and is the brainchild of the “master of dark fairy tales” himself, Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, The Strain), who penned and directed the movie. It’s dark and erotic and has a bit of a Dickensian feel to it.

And here’s the official movie synopsis:

In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers.

Crimson Peak stars Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Jim Beaver. It is set to haunt movie theaters on Oct. 16, 2015. Did the trailer whet your appetite for del Toro’s next opus?
