The Walking Dead has expanded into many corners of the entertainment world. It went from comic book to TV series, then it got T-shirts, action figures, board games, and even an acclaimed serialized video game from Telltale. Now, the iconic zombie franchise is heading to the video game world again, with a lot of walker-killing action.

Over the weekend, in conjunction with the show's midseason finale, Overkill Software released the first trailer for its new The Walking Dead game. While Telltale's version took on a more storytelling-based approach, this one will be a full-blown co-op first-person-shooter adventure in which you basically get to take out as many walkers as you'd like while you try to survive a zombie-ridden Washington, D.C. According to the official synopsis (via Bloody Disgusting): "Each character has their own Special Abilities, Skill Trees, Squad Roles, Play Styles and Story Arcs, but teamwork is paramount. The action is close-up and intense: take out enemies carefully with silent melee attack or go in guns blazing with your choice of each class firearms.”

In the trailer, we meet Aidan, a man who seems overloaded by work and family concerns to the point that he's not even returning calls anymore. Then, we cut to the same man in the zombie apocalypse, where he seems so eager to take out his frustrations that he's actually summoning walkers to him and his spiked bat. We'll have to wait for some gameplay footage to see just how much fun this will turn out to be, but so far Overkill's The Walking Dead looks very promising.

Check out the trailer below. The game arrives in fall 2018.
