Though it’s become a running joke in recent years on Saturday Night Live, there’s absolutely no denying the prolific output of aging action star Nicolas Cage — and his latest flick might just be the Nic Cage-y-est of them all.
Dubbed Outcast, Cage’s latest effort is an English-language period action film set in 12th-century China. Cage, along with mostly forgotten Star Wars prequel star Hayden Christensen, team up to swing swords, kick butt and take names. According to Deadline, the duo will play ex-Crusades warriors who help the children of a deposed Chinese emperor battle their murderous uncle.
Yeah, that sounds like a fair enough setup for a weird Nic Cage action spectacle. But it's the trailer that really sells this thing. It definitely feels low-budget, but Cage steals the show with his signature style of pure, manic insanity.
Seriously, we want to see this movie solely for the Nic Cage performance. We mock, but c’mon, the dude is awesome. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think:
Outcast is tentatively set to open in early 2015.
