First TV spot for Agent Carter pops up online (UPDATED)

As if there wasn't enough Marvel goodness to go around yesterday, the first TV commercial for the upcoming Agent Carter series showed up.

We have not seen much of the next Marvel TV offering yet besides a few stills, but now a spot for the eight-episode limited series has appeared on ABC. One quick-thinking fan captured it in a (slightly shaky) video and posted it online initially, but Marvel put the official version on Twitter a short time later.

The brief commercial doesn't show us a whole lot but sets the tone for the series, which takes place in 1946. In the aftermath of World War II and the loss of Steve Rogers, Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) finds herself relegated to office work for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) -- until her old friend Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) comes looking for help. Read the full synopsis here.

Peggy was one of our favorite characters from Captain America: The First Avenger, and we're thrilled to see Atwell back in the role. The show, which also stars James D’Arcy, Chad Michael Murray, Enver Gjokai and Shea Whigham, premieres on ABC in January 2015.

Check out the spot below. Will you be tuning in when Agent Carter debuts?
