Everything about Hereafter strikes us as unlikely. It's got a name that sounds like it should be a bad Drew Barrymore comedy. It's directed by Dirty Harry himself, Clint Eastwood, a guy not usually associated with supernatural thriller films. And it stars Matt "Jason Bourne" Damon as a psychic who can talk to the dead.

And, most unlikely of all, based on the trailer that was just released for the film, it looks really good. You can see for yourself after this official description for the film (which frankly doesn't seem to do the movie justice based on the trailer):

"Hereafter" tells the story of three people who are touched by death in different ways. George (Matt Damon) is a blue-collar American who has a special connection to the afterlife. On the other side of the world, Marie (Cecile De France), a French journalist, has a near-death experience that shakes her reality. And when Marcus, a London schoolboy, loses the person closest to him, he desperately needs answers. Each on a path in search of the truth, their lives will intersect, forever changed by what they believe might--or must--exist in the hereafter.
