Judging by this trailer, Sym-Bionic Titan has everything you could want in a TV show: space opera, royalty on the run, high school drama and giant frakking robots.

Created by Genndy Tartakovsky -- the twisted genius behind Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack and the Star Wars: Clone Wars microseries -- Sym-Bionic Titan follows three teens (okay, two teens and a robot) from a far-flung planet who, in escaping from the power-mad general who's conquered their home world, land on Earth and try to make a life for themselves.

Until, of course, said general tracks them to Earth and rains down all kinds of techno-destruction. But wouldn't you know, these three can combine -- Voltron-style -- to form the kick-ass mecha known as Sym-Bionic Titan.

Why should you tune in this Friday at 8 p.m. for the premiere? Because Tartakovsky's Samurai Jack is one of the great genre TV series of the past 20 years, a heady, emotional blend of spaghetti westerns, Kurosawa action flicks and Frank Miller's 300. That means it's totally worth a look.
