DC's final chapter of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns trilogy hasn't exactly set the comic-book world on fire with stellar sales, but it's still attracting top shelf talent to its healthy roster of invigorating variant covers.

Here 's the latest wave of five exceptional variants for you to ingest and consider from Jim Lee, Klaus Janson, Scott McDaniel, Frank Miller and John Romita Jr.   All are worthy entries to the library of former variants seen offered from the first two issues of Dark Knight III: The Master Race, and it's always an exhilarating experience seeing Batman toting a high-caliber weapon spitting fire from its black snout!

Dark Knight III: The Master Race #3 picks up the action exactly where #2 left off and here's DC's official synopsis:

Book 3 of the upcoming issue of DARK KNIGHT III introduces Quar, the renegade fanatic priest of Kandor. Unwittingly freed and restored to normal size by Ray Palmer, Quar and his acolytes stake their claim to the planet Earth and demand nothing less than absolute obedience from the human race!  All that stands in the way is a (seriously) hobbled Bruce Wayne and Carrie Kelley, and they’ll need serious help, so they’re heading to a certain Fortress of Solitude to get it…

Dark Knight III: The Master Race #3 strikes comic shop shelves on February 24, with a deluxe The Collector’s Edition hardcover on sale March 9.  Have a look at the incentive covers in the gallery below and let us know which ones are the standouts that demand an honest attempt to acquire.
