The CW’s hit superhero series The Flash will add ex-S.T.A.R. Labs employee Dr. Kimiyo Hoshi to its roster of metahumans for Season 2.
The character of Doctor Light was first mentioned by Cisco and Caitlin in the Season 2 Arrow episode "The Man Under the Hood." However, although the classic Doctor Light was a villain named Arthur Light who pestered the Scarlet Speedster, the Teen Titans and various other DC heroes (and later became a reviled rapist in the comic-book miniseries Identity Crisis), the CW will introduce us to another, more recent (and probably more heroic) version of the character.
Showrunner Gabrielle Stanton told TV Line that the metahuman will indeed turn up in the upcoming season of The Flash, but "it’s going to be the female version" of the character. In the DC Comics, Dr. Kimiyo Hoshi was a brilliant but arrogant scientist who at one point worked in S.T.A.R. Labs and, as Doctor Light, later became an on-and-off member of the Justice League International. While a member of the Justice League, she struck up a friendship with Wally West, who'll also be introduced this season with Insurgent's Keiynan Lonsdale in the role of the junior speedster.
There's no casting news yet. Nor do we know whether the character will show up for one or multiple episodes.
Are you looking forward to seeing Doctor Light make her debut in the second season of The Flash? Who do you think would be a good fit for the brilliant role?
