The CW is prepping to suit up with the return of most of its Arrowverse series next week, and the network has unveiled an extended version of that short “Suit Up” promo we saw last week. Running at nearly 2 minutes long, this one features more clever character interactions and, for the first time ever, includes the new kid on the block: Black Lightning.
The new trailer doesn’t feature any footage from the DC TV shows but rather sees Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), the Flash (Grant Gustin), Vibe (Carlos Valdes), White Canary (Caity Lotz), Atom (Brandon Routh), and Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) suiting up in some sort of superhero locker room. Although they don’t have any dialogue, nor do we see their faces, the trailer also features glimpses of Kid Flash, Vixen, Citizen Steel, and Spartan.
The whole trailer is basically a hype video for the small-screen DC universe, and it's a testament to just how far the network has taken these franchises in the past six years. The Arrowverse spans four shows, with Black Lightning arriving soon (though it's admittedly Arrowverse-adjacent at the moment), and the creative team knows how to make it all hum. Marvel might have the MCU, but The CW has the closest thing on the small screen by far — and it's a whole lot of fun.
Supergirl flies back to National City with the “Legion of Super-Heroes” on Jan. 15, while The Flash will make a speedy return on Jan. 16 with “The Trial of the Flash.” Black Lightning will make its debut following The Flash on Jan. 16 with an episode titled “The Resurrection,” but we’ll have to wait until Feb. 12 before Legends of Tomorrow returns from its midseason break with “Daddy Darhkest,” taking over Supergirl's spot. Arrow will come back "Divided" on Jan. 18.
