Right about now you may be thirsting for new images to satisfy your desire for more Star Wars: The Force Awakens until your next viewing, and the film's director of photography, Dan Mindel has sensed those urges.
Mindel (Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness) and his Force Awakens team behind the camera recently shared a crop of behind-the-scenes images on their Instagram accounts, taken during the movie's production at various locations and soundstages around the world. It's awesome to see the massive, old-style 35mm Panavision cameras back to capture the magic and the fantastic Pinewood Studios sets!
Mindel's crisp, stylish cinematography in The Force Awakens felt modern and nostalgic at the same time, enhancing the story tremendously around every corner of the Star Wars galaxy, all complemented by the seamless performances of the cast, an elegant, understated score by John Williams and confident directorial decisions by J.J. Abrams. Upon repeat viewings (I'm on number three!), Mindel and his crew's masterful work becomes most impressive, allowing for intimate details as well as sweeping planetary vistas.
