In case you didn’t already know, we’re pretty big fans of Idris Elba around here. The guy is awesome, and we’d love to see him get more genre roles. He’s also a legit kick boxer, in case he wasn’t already cool enough. Now? He wants to be a legit Marvel superhero.YES, PLEASE.

Elba has had a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for years now, playing Heimdall in the Thor trilogy of films. It’s not the biggest role, but it’s more than a cameo. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Elba said he’s tired of having a small part in the MCU and would like something a little bigger. You know, like an A-list hero. Elba said the first two films weren’t all that enjoyable, but he had a whole lot more “fun” working with Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, who he said is a pretty “great” dude.

In the wake of his trip to Ragnarok, Elba said he wants to be “more present in the Marvel family.” He said he wishes he had a chance to play a “bigger character” in the MCU, and when pressed, said he “like[s] the idea” of being a superhero. Yeah, Idris. So do we.

Seriously, we already know the dude can do this:

Shockingly, Elba said Marvel has never reached out to him about taking on any different roles within the Marvel universe aside from Heimdall, but since he’s interested,  Marvel has to at least consider it, right?

Elba’s star has only continued to rise in recent years, and though his starring gig in The Dark Tower was a bust, he was pretty much the only cool thing in that film. Regardless, the guy clearly has the action chops and charisma to lead a superhero flick all his own.

What do you think? Would you like to see Elba land a larger role in the MCU? Who should he play?
