We haven't seen the last ofUnderworld and its vampire-werewolf drama. The supernatural series, which began over a decade ago, is ready for a fresh start. After 2012's Underworld: Awakening, which featured the return of franchise heroine Selene (Kate Beckinsale), Lakeshore Entertainment wants to take the films in another direction.
Lakeshore plans to reboot the franchise, which included Underworld (2003), Underworld: Evolution (2006), the prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009) and the aforementioned Underworld: Awakening. They've covered every angle of Selene's story, so we're not surprised they're looking to start anew.
Cory Goodman has been hired to write the script for the reboot. His credits include 2011's Priest and the upcoming Vin Diesel film, The Last Witch Hunter. The last Underworld installment earned $160 million worldwide, with only $62 million being domestic. Hopefully Goodman can add some much-needed energy to the long-running property. Underworld could finally catch its second wind.
Do you think it's time for an Underworld reboot, or is it better to let sleeping vamps lie?
