Russell Crowe may have passed on RoboCop, but Dracula might have a shot. The Oscar-winning actor has his eye on a new film called Harker, which is a retelling of the vampire novel.
Crowe wants a piece of the vampire pie. Warner Bros. is developing a re-imagining of Bram Stoker's Dracula, and the actor is up for the lead. This version of the Transylvanian's story will be told from the perspective of Jonathan Harker. But instead of him being a lawyer, he'll be a detective working for Scotland Yard. His main objective will be solving a string of grisly murders (throughout England) that the count has committed.
Orphan and Unknown's Jaume Collet-Serra is attached to direct from a script written by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy. Crowe may be Harker's top candidate, but he hasn't signed on the dotted line. The actor has a lot of films on his plate. He's currently prepping to play Hugh Jackman's nemesis in the big-screen adaptation of Les Miserables and is rumored to star in Darren Aronofsky's Noah.
