Fringe star hints at 'necessary' game-changing series finale

The end is near. Fringe's finale date's been set, and the characters are on edge. Last week, one of them crossed the line, and he won't be the only one. Expect the whole crew to go above and beyond for the cause.

[Spoiler] Friday, we saw Peter's emotions get the best of him. After losing Etta, he's become obsessed with making the Observers pay. They're always outsmarting the group, so he's devised a plan to get into their heads—literally. He removed a piece of tech from a captured Observer and implanted it in his brain. Now he's one with the baldies.

Before the finale, we can expect every character to make a drastic sacrifice for the war. Actor Joshua Jackson revealed, "The place that they're trying to take the characters at the end, at least for me, seems like a satisfying and in some ways almost logical sort of necessary ending for each one of these characters."

A "necessary ending" doesn't sound positive. How far are they willing to go to win? Etta gave her life for the cause, and we're sure Peter and Olivia would do the same.

Fringe's series finale airs Jan. 18 on Fox.
