After several memorable seasons on Fox’s Fringe, Seth Gabel is already a known commodity to sci-fi fans. But he’ll be trading in his FBI badge for a drug empire when he shows up in Starling City on The CW’s Arrow.
Gabel will play new baddie Count Vertigo beginning next week, the latest reimagining of a classic DC baddie for the hit series. Gabel’s take on the character is a drug kingpin in Starling City, peddling a dangerous new drug called Vertigo.
Not surprisingly, Gabel told Entertainment Weekly that sparks (and arrows) will fly once Stephen Amell’s hooded hero tracks him down:
“The character doesn’t have any super powers to start with but any superpowers that the comic book character had get manifested in the form of a drug called Vertigo that I sell on the street. I’m a street drug kingpin, and I’m flooding the street of Starling City with Vertigo.
I found that at the end of the day, the [he's] obsessed with power and money and whatever it takes to get that is what he’s willing to do. [He wants] to ride to the top and be one of the most powerful people in Sterling City. So to have the opportunity to take on the Arrow character and prove himself to himself and to the rest of the city is everything he wanted and more.”
Sounds like Gabel has found enough in the character to make him compelling, and we can’t wait to see how his demeanor translates into a Big Bad.
Do you like how Arrow has handled the DC canon up to this point?
