Over the weekend, fans got to see the terrific moment when Harrison Ford interview-bombed Solo: A Star Wars Story star Alden Ehrenreich, but now we have the full video of the Entertainment Tonight interview in which Ford suddenly pops up with director Ron Howard to heap praise on his successor, calling Ehrenreich's performance both "smart" and "spectacular."
Ehrenreich has spoken a bit about his meeting with Ford before he began filming Solo and the advice he received. He even talked about Ford crashing his interview during the Solo: A Star Wars Story press conference, but this is the first time we've gotten to hear from Ford on what he thought of Ehrenreich's performance. Usually, Harrison Ford can be a bit... taciturn when it comes to interviews. However, his enthusiasm over Ehrenreich's performance has him lit up like a Christmas tree.
Ford claps the younger man on the shoulder and tells ET, "I just thought it was spectacular, and I thought he [Alden] was so smart about what he did and how he did it. I just couldn't be happier."
It's clear that Ehrenreich is thrilled to get the Harrison Ford seal of approval, saying, "It means a lot to me."
It also seems Ford only made one interview flyby, as both Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge say they haven't had a chance to meet Ford yet. But everyone seems to agree that Harrison dropping by to offer praise is a boost for everyone involved.
Seeing the two of them side by side, there's a sense of a passing of the torch. Or, shall we say, the blaster.
Solo: A Star Wars Story lands in theaters May 25.
