Matt Groening has already created two of the most iconic animated shows in history with The Simpsons and Futurama, and now he’s trying his hand at another one at Netflix.

The series, Disenchantment, basically sounds like a fantasy take on Futurama, in the best possible way. Deadline reports it will be set in “the crumbling kingdom” of Dreamland and follows the misadventures of the “hard-drinking young princess Bean” (Abbi Jacobson), her “feisty elf companion Elfo" (Nat Faxon), and her “personal demon Luci” (Eric Andre). The world will be populated with all kinds of ogres, trolls, imps, sprites, harpies, and humans.

Even better? The expanded cast includes some Futurama alums. The full list: John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery. Even the animation is being handled by Futurama alums Rough Draft Studios.

“Ultimately, Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you," Groening said.

Disenchantment is set to premiere in 2018. Netflix has ordered 20 episodes that will be split over two 10-episode seasons. After seeing what Groening has done with the future and sci-fi, we can't wait to see him take a shot at fantasy.
