Israeli actress/model Gal Gadot took to Instagram to wish Princess Diana a happy birthday. While Wonder Woman first appeared in October of 1941, her birthday is actually March 22, according to a DC calendar from 1976. Gadot posted a page from the comics of Queen Hippolyta creating Diana out of clay with the accompanying caption:
"Wonder Woman, my amazing amazon, happy birthday! You are as beautiful as Aphrodite, wise as Athena, swifter than Hermes, and stronger than Hercules - all the Gods are with you, and you are with us all to help make the world a better place. Thank you for changing my life, and for inspiring people worldwide to find their own superpower."
The live-action Wonder Woman movie, released last May, became a critical hit and the highest-grossing DCEU movie to date, with over $820 million worldwide. Breaking numerous records, it also became the highest-grossing live-action film ever directed by a woman (Patty Jenkins) and the highest-grossing superhero origin film... until Black Panther came along, of course.
In any case, a sequel to Wonder Woman is already underway, with Jenkins returning as director and SNL's Kristen Wiig portraying the villain, Cheetah. Wonder Woman 2 will get a theatrical release on November 1, 2019.
