HBO's latest marketing push to get people to watch Game of Thrones is kind of amazing.
Not too long ago, we talked about how HBO felt Game of Thrones wasn't reaching the "urban demo." Their big solution was to get hip-hop icons from Big Boi to Common to Daddy Yankee to pen some tunes built around the show's lore and characters.
The result is Catch the Throne, which features the aforementioned hip-hop heroes along with Wale, Bodega Bamz and many more. And, you know, for a thing that is unabashedly designed to get someone other than whitey to watch Game of Thrones, it genuinely works really well.
Keep in mind what I'm saying is that I, who blister within five minutes of being in the sun, think this great. Whether it will translate into more butts in seats for Game of Thrones, though, remains to be seen.
