More sad news, on the heels of the passing of Bill Paxton. Neil Fingleton, who played Mag the Mighty on Game of Thrones, has passed away from heart failure. He was 36.

The British actor stood 7'7" and was the tallest British-born man in the nation, and among the top 25 tallest men in the world. Unsurprisingly, he parlayed his height into basketball, playing for the University of North Carolina and Holy Cross. A professional basketball career followed.

On the big screen, Fingleton had small roles in 47 Ronin, Jupiter Ascending, X-Men: First Class and Avengers: Age of Ultron. He also appeared on Doctor Who. But he is perhaps best known for his Game of Thrones role as Mag Mar Tun Doh Weg, better known as Mag the Mighty, the leader of a race of giants that joined Mance Rayder.

Here is an interview with him from 2007, where he showcased some of the unique challenges of being extra tall in a normal-sized world.

Rest in peace.
