Director Andrew Niccol has built his career on fascinating dystopias, led by the cult sci-fi hit Gattaca. Now we finally know what his next big sci-fi project will be.

Deadline reports that Niccol (In Time, The Truman Show) has tapped Amanda Seyfried (In Time) and Clive Owen (Children of Men) to star in his new flick Anon, described as a psychological thriller set in a world with “no privacy, ignorance or anonymity.” In the world of Anon, literally every scrap of information is recorded and traceable by authorities. Considering the world we live in, this sounds like it could certainly be a topical pitch.

Owen will play a detective in this dystopia who stumbles upon a young woman (Seyfried) with no digital footprint. After meeting this young woman, who is seemingly invisible to the police and government, he discovers that the world of Big Brother 2.0 might not be all it's cracked up to be. Cue the action, conspiracy thriller.

If there’s one thing Niccol is good at, it’s world building — and this should be a really good to dig into. For all its faults, In Time inhabited some fascinating concepts, and Gattaca is a mind-bending masterpiece. A story like this should certainly let Niccol play to his strengths.
