As part of Syfy 25 – where we’re looking back at everything amazing that’s happened in the world of sci-fi, fantasy and horror over the last 25 years – we asked a bunch of famous people what sort of geeky stuff they like. Here’s what Hale Appleman of the Magicians had to say.

The one thing I geek out over the most is:
The Princess Bride.

The first thing I remember geeking out over is:
Final Fantasy 7.

The science-fiction/fantasy creator I most respect is:
Jim Henson. Or Tolkien, and always Lev Grossman.

My geeky guilty pleasure is:
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

The current state of science-fiction in three words:
Expanding, Uniting, Reimagined.

The best quote from anyone in the genre, real or fictional is:
Inigo Montoya: Offer me money.
Count Rugen: Yes!
Inigo Montoya: Power, too, promise me that.
[He slashes his other cheek]
Count Rugen: All that I have and more. Please ...
Inigo Montoya: Offer me anything I ask for.
Count Rugen: Anything you want ...
Inigo Montoya: I want my father back, you son of a bitch!
[He runs Count Rugen through and shoves him back against the table. Rugen falls to the floor, dead]

The best genre movie of the last 25 years is:
The Princess Bride.

The best genre series of the last 25 years is:
Game of Thrones.

A movie that desperately needs a remake is:
We need new stories, but I am looking forward to The Dark Crystal. See below.

On the flipside, a movie that should never ever be remade is:
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (with Gene Wilder).

The genre character I most admire and why:
Arya Stark. No explanation necessary.

A scene from a movie that scared the ever living sh*t out of me was:
The teacup scene in Get Out. Because it’s true.

The fictional character with the best style is:

The best Batman was:
Michael Keaton. Sorry.

The LOTR character I’d like to be is:

The LOTR character I’d actually be is:

The most unforgivable insult in all of nerdom is:
The unshakable belief that you can please everyone.

If I could have one superpower, it would be:

Which superpower comes with the biggest drawbacks: flight, invisibility, or telekinesis?

If I were a hero my sidekick would be:

The Hogwarts sorting hat would put me in:

My patronus would be:
A merman.

On a voyage through space, my captain would be:
The Rock.

People in Fantasy tales are always British because:
Their accents make them 30% more smart, talented and attractive. We accept this fact.

In a fight between Dumbledore and Gandalf, who would win?

In a fight between Picard and Kirk, who would win?
Love would.

In a fight between Wonder Woman and Superman, who would win?
Love would win.

In a fight between Hulk and Thor, who would win?

In six words or less, what words of wisdom do you have for fellow fans?
Do what you've been putting off.
