While rumors are flying that Wonder Woman 2 will take place during the 1980s, with Princess Diana taking on agents of the USSR, and director Patty Jenkins reportedly set to make history with a hefty payday for a female director for the WW sequel, an Oscar-winning actress has thrown her lasso into the ring to join the superhero movie.
Actress Geena Davis (The Fly, Beetlejuice, Thelma & Louise, Fox’s The Exorcist) has revealed she’s spoken to Patty Jenkins for a role in the Wonder Woman sequel. In a recent interview with Variety, Davis talked about gender equity in Hollywood and the fact that recent female-led movies have been kicking @$$ at the box office.
Asked whether she thinks the action movies she’s starred in (The Long Kiss Goodnight, Cutthroat Island) inspired more recent films like Atomic Blonde and Wonder Woman, Davis said:
“I would never claim credit for those movies. Certainly Wonder Woman needed to be made, and I’m so beyond thrilled with how it came out. I met Patty Jenkins and I told her, “I’m sure you’re going to make a sequel and if you need anybody Amazonian, there’s always me. I’m available.” I loved it, and I want to do more of those films. My dream goal would be to have a streaming show where I could be a badass.”
What do you think of Geena Davis wanting to be in Wonder Woman 2? Would you love to see the actress in the Amazonian Princess’s second solo entry?
