Thanks to Jon Favreau’s Instagram, we’re slowly learning more about his upcoming Star Wars series The Mandalorian. It’s where he shared the synopsis of the show, a closer look at some familiar props, and a character image. Now in the writer and producer’s latest posts, we’ve received a sneak peek of the set which includes some rather familiar faces.
Star Wars creator George Lucas paid a visit to Favreau on The Mandalorian set. Favreau shared the image Friday, which also happened to be his birthday. Favreau captioned the image “birthday surprise.” While the rest of the image doesn’t give too much away, it does show us a cantina-like set behind the two.
Lucas wasn’t the only one to stop by and say hi to Favreau either. Another Instagram photo shows Favreau and Lucas with Dave Filoni, who is directing the first episode of The Mandalorian. Filoni is well-known in the galaxy far, far away for his work on the two animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. He was one of five directors announced to direct episodes of The Mandalorian earlier this month. The other directors are Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), and Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates).
The Mandalorian is set to premiere late 2019 on Disney’s streaming service Disney Play.
