As we mentioned a few days ago, George R.R. Martin is holding a campaign to benefit the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctury. The person who donated $20,000 to help house wolves would receive the "honor" of being killed in an upcoming A Song of Ice and Fire novel, a.k.a. Game of Thrones. Now that person has been chosen, and his name is David Goldblatt.

San Franciscan Goldblatt will be dying "a grisly death" in the near future, which proves that GRRM has killed so many people in fiction that he's run out of names.

Before the campaign, GRRM let it be known that donors could choose the character's station in the world; that is, you could be a lord, a peasant, a whore, anything. Goldblatt chose Valyrian.

As we know from the books, Valyria is a ruined city that collapsed after the Doom, a cataclysmic event that left the city "demon-haunted." The Targaryens were from Valyria but had fled in advance of the cataclysm; they took the language and the physical traits of pale hair and purple eyes with them to Dragonstone, in Westeros.

Valyria is also the home to the language of Valyrian, a corrupted version of which is spoken in the slaver cities.

"David Goldblatt" isn't a name that screams Westeros, or even Essos, but with tweaking to something like Davyd Goldleaf (the meaning of "Goldblatt," in German), it could easily work.

Prizeo, the website holding GRRM's auction, has recently added a new perk. For $20,000, the bidder will receive a trip for two to the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. According to Prizeo, this reward:

Includes two 4-day passes to the convention, roundtrip airfare, and accommodations. You will also receive an invitation to the exclusive Penguin Random House party where you will meet George R. R. Martin and have a chance to mingle with other authors. Prize only open to residents of the continental United States and Canada.

However, the auction fun isn't over yet. Everyone who has donated to the cause will be automatically entered into a drawing, where the winner will get a special prize: A trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to tour the wolf sanctuary with GRRM himself. In a helicopter.

The more money you donate, the more raffle tickets you win. You have until July 19 to help the wolves… and learn about them from the kill-iest man in fiction.
