Georgie makes a new friend in terrifying clips from Stephen King’s IT

The early reviews for Stephen King’s IT have been pretty great, and some new clips show off a bit more of that small town terror we can expect when it opens in a couple weeks.

Director Andy Muschietti’s new take on King’s classic novel casts Bill Skarsgård as a positively terrifying version of the clown monster Pennywise, and we get to see the iconic opening scene as Georgie plays with his paper boat. Along with Pennywise, we also get to see a bit more of the “Losers Club” of kids who make up the main cast.

The footage here certainly sets the scene for terror, and Muschietti seems to have an excellent grasp for the story he’s telling. Seriously, this thing looks to be made of unfiltered nightmare fuel.

IT opens September 8.
