Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has already been seen by Comic-Con goers and, soon enough, we'll all see it, too. In the meantime ...

The thing about the new S.H.I.E.L.D. show is that it's going to cover an awful lot of new ground. There have never been any comics that house this particular cast of characters. And new is good. If there's anything we need less of in the realm of comic-book adaptation, it's more derivations of things that have already come before.

But that doesn't mean there's nothing to be garnered from the past. On the contrary, we think the style of the comics (especially the older ones) could be paid homage to in the directorial style and cinematography of the show. Kirby, Steranko, Windsor-Smith and more had their crack at Nick Fury and company. And while, yes, a lot of what you'll see has a very '60s James Bond flair, we don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

So here's 22 images -- covers, splash pages and general art to get your mind on everything Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could, and should, be.
