The Predator doesn't land in theaters until Friday, but you can get ready for the next phase of the franchise right now with an exclusive track from the original soundtrack.
Director Shane Black's new film, co-written by Black and Fred Dekker, is the first film to feature the iconic title character since 2010's Predators, and it's attempting to change the game in a big way by giving us not just the return of the Predator to a new setting (in this case, suburbia), but also the arrival of a new threat in the form of the "Ultimate Predator," an evolved killing machine that the trailers have shown is a threat to both humans and regular old-school Predators.
Though the reviews for the film have been somewhat mixed, it's hard to deny that Black and company are attempting some ambitious storytelling here, and they need a rousing score to pull it off. To do that, Black turned to Henry Jackman, who scored films like Kong: Skull Island, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and Captain America: Civil War. Jackman's score, like the film itself, honors the original Predator film and then goes its own way, and you can have a little listen to what that's like right now.
The full original soundtrack for The Predator won't be on sale until September 28, but this Friday a three-track EP will be available that features this track, titled "The Arrival." Check it out:
The Predator - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack EP, like The Predator, is out Friday.
